The state Environment Department has now developed the Maha Paryavaran app for complaints about water, air and noise pollution in industrial estates. Through this app, live complaints of pollution-causing places and incidents can be made. With this app, the department aims to eliminate and curb the rising pollution menace from industries and factories.

Pollution is controlled in industrial estates by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. However, the Pollution Control Board has said that this app has been developed considering the current depleting manpower of the board and the time taken to resolve the complaints received.

Through this app, any kind of pollution related complained affecting any individual citizens or the public can be directly registered here.

In industrial estates, polluting factories have been notified by the Pollution Control Board in categories and stages like Green, Red, Orange. Factories in the green notification category do not easily cause pollution.

The Orange category includes factories that pollute moderately, i.e., air and water, while the Red category includes factories that pollute all three types of water, noise and air. This category also includes polluted chemical wastewater and polluted chemical hazardous solid waste.

The Red category includes chemical factories, chemical processing factories, yarn dyeing factories, chemical solid product manufacturing factories, iron manufacturing factories, factories emitting hazardous gases, manufacturing factories generating hazardous waste, oil refineries, cement factories, sugar factories, fertilizer factories, dyes and dye intermediate manufacturers, etc.
