Aamir Khan has been quietly leading a movement for a drought free Maharashtra for years with 'Paani Foundation,' his non-profit organization which is active in the area of drought prevention and watershed management. He founded the organisation with wife Kiran Rao to address the environmental causes behind drought and the subsequent devastation of thirst, hunger, debt, forced migration and ruined crops. It aims to find scientific solutions to eradicate this crisis and provides methods of water conservation, water management and environment restoration to rural communities.

An advocate of a clean and green environment, Anushka Sharma recently began the practice of waste segregation on the sets of the projects greenlit by her production house Clean Slate Filmz.
