To achieve success, one must possess three Ds i.e. direction, decision, and dedication. One needs to have the drive to take an initiative and bring a change in lives. A resident of Dadar, Jay Shringarpure is one such person who has been following the path with dedication and is happy with his decision.

A young businessman by profession, Jay, always wanted to give back to nature but was clueless until his own kids found it hard to play at Dadar Chowpatty, due to the filth. Instead of taking his children to some other place, he decided to drive the change.

The more he saw the beach filled with polythene bags, garlands, and a lot of waste, the more he felt determined to continue his mission of cleaning. Around 14 months ago, he started cleaning the Dadar beach by picking up plastic waste and discarding it in a right manner.

People throw garbage in sea, lots of polythene bags, garlands, god idols, waste, and what not which ultimately comes back to us. Also, sea can’t take all this, so it comes to the seashore. And this makes the beach filthy,” added Shringarpure.

Initially, determined Jay Shringarpure started it alone and didn’t think about the society or people’s reactions or their comments. He didn’t care if it was raining or scorching heat, he continued his work. Gradually he built his team and engaged many corporates, schools, publication houses in this clean-up drive. Soon, with the participation of many localities, he formed his NGO “Jay Foundation” to support for a greater cause.

Through his foundation today, he makes residents aware about the composting by providing easy compost bins which are available only for ₹1200

I believe that it's our responsibility to take care of our wet waste and the right way is to make compost out of it. One can easily donate the compost or use it for your own plants,” added Shringarpure.

Today, with his consistent efforts he has a huge number of supporters & followers to help him to accomplish the mission. His mission is not only to clean the beach but to create an awareness among people to keep our beach clean.
