In order to ensure eco-friendly Ganpati Visarjan, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has constructed temporary artificial ponds for idol immersion today, September 9.
The civic body has issued guidelines to strictly immerse Ganesha idols made of plaster of paris (PoP) in artificial ponds.
Taking it to Twitter, the BMC also issued list of artificial ponds in Mumbai under its jurisdiction. They have also urged citizens kindly avail this environment-friendly way to bid farewell to our loving Bappa.

On the other hand, you can even get the information about the nearest immersion spot on BMC's WhatsApp Chatbot. Mumbaikars can find information about their nearest idol immersion site by scanning the QR code or clicking on the link https://wa.me/918999228999.
This development came as in a special case, this year, the the civic body has allowed using POP made Ganesh idols. However, the idols will have to be immersed in artificial ponds.
Moreover, it is pertinent to note that the festival will be celebrated this year after the lifting of restrictions in wake of COVID-19.
Besides, in the view of Anant Chaturdashi, today, September 9, the Mumbai Police and its Traffic Department have issued advisories regarding the traffic diversions and other measures.
Meanwhile, it is pertient to note that earlier, the traffic police had released separate notices on unsafe bridges and diversions caused by Metro construction.
