This year, the Ganeshotsav will begin on September 19, and preparations are in full swing as the 10-day festival fast approaches. This weekend (September 9–10), most large idols were moved from workshops to pandals. Interestingly, there will be no 'aagman' parade this year as the crowd-puller statue of Lalbaugcha Raja is carved on-site.
In the latest update, the Lalbaugcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal has secured an insurance policy worth Rs 26.54 crore from New India Insurance. The policy, effective from August 24 to October 23, covers a variety of risks, including fire, theft, accident, stampede, terrorism, and prasad poisoning.
Here is detailed break up of insurance coverage cost:
- INR 12 crore is allocated for personal accident insurance for devotees, trustees, registered executives and volunteers, residents, and staff, including security guards and watchmen.
- Each accident victim can receive up to INR 5 lakh. People who have received a Lalbaugcha Raja Mandal identity card will be eligible for this.
- INR 5 crore is set aside for third-party liability, which includes prasad poisoning.
- INR 2.5 crore will be used for damage to the set, all mandaps, and the main gate.
- INR 7.04 crore will cover the idol's jewellery and treasures in the mandap
For this comprehensive coverage, the mandal has paid INR 5.4 lakh in premium. This year's insurance covers slightly more than the coverage of 2022. Last year, Lalbaugcha Raja secured a policy worth INR 25.6 crore from the same insurer.
