After a prolonged hiatus of nine years, the iconic Independence Rock festival made a return to the Mumbai music scene last year. This year, the event, now known as I-Rock, will take place on November 4 and 5 at Bayview Lawns in Mumbai's Mazgaon neighbourhood.

As India's oldest rock festival, I-Rock has a rich history of promoting rock music and fostering a sense of unity among rock enthusiasts. The festival promises to continue this tradition by featuring a diverse lineup. The features will be from many rock subgenres from across the globe.

The stage, overlooking the Arabian Sea, will provide an eclectic mix of rock music. This includes everything from traditional thrash to genre-defying rock, death metal to reggae, and even a taste of 1980s glam metal.

One standout feature of I-Rock is its unique fusion of Indian classical and folk music with rock. Audiences will be treated to a special blend of melodies featuring instruments like the mridangam and flute.

Throughout the 1980s, the festival provided a platform for key figures in the rock community. I-Rock has evolved a lot. It has become a cultural movement that resonates through time. It serves as a piece of India's musical history.

Beyond its role as a festival, I-Rock also gives stage to emerging talent in the genre. Through its Headliners programme, the festival will offer a platform for up-and-coming musicians to showcase their skills and gain recognition alongside established performers.
