Food is what everyone loves in India, and if you ask anyone in India, they'd definitely add the word 'foodie' to describe them. This is because the nation loves to eat and serve. A country with diverse cultures has one thing in common when it comes to food, and that is the love for rice, in the form of Khichdi. 

The popular recipe from grandma's kitchen supposedly has magical powers, as it's nutritional value makes it to the top of the healthy food list. India, today, has many forms of Khichdi and every nation has its own twist, each of it being delicious in its own way.

An amalgamation of rice, lentils, and spices, Khichdi is on the verge of becoming country's national food. As per reports, the announcement for the same will be made at India's biggest-ever global food show, World Food India, which will be held in Delhi on November 4, 2017.

The proposal for the same has been approved by the centre when Harsmirat Kaur Badal led Ministry of Food Processing suggested khichdi to be a representative of Indian cuisine and was approved by the Centre. The approval was made on the decision that the dish is enjoyed by everyone and is healthy, delicious and economical to make.

On this special day and occasion, top chefs from the country will come together to cook a pot of khichdi weighing 800 kgs and will make their way to Guinness World Records.

So, mark the calendar, cook some delicious Khichdi and enjoy the day when it is announced.
