An IT company based out of TTC MIDC Industrial Estate in Mhape has just seen 19 of its employees testing positive for COVID-19. The affected have been sent to NMMC Hospital in Vashi. It is said that 7 patients belonged to Mumbai, while 7 more were from Navi Mumbai.

Meanwhile, there were two patients from Telangana and Thane, while one patient belonged to Sangli.

The employer got the tests done for all the employees at a private test lab. The spike in cases can be traced back to the fact that three of the COVID-19 patients travelled from outside the region. With the inclusion of these cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in NMMC Hospital has touched 50.

As positive cases continue to mount across Mumbai, the BMC announced that it will designate containment areas with colours depending on the number of cases reported in that region.

As migrants are currently stranded in the city, CM Uddhav Thackeray has asked the Central Government to arrange special trains for them to go back to their homes located outside Maharashtra.

While Mumbai has been suffering to cope with the lockdown, industries have been opened in non-containment areas of Maharashtra. A total of 1,335 industries have been opened across Maharashtra as of April 20.

Even during the midst of a deadly disease, we have come across instances of some doctors trying to fleece grieving citizens. An incident from Juhu’s Cooper Hospital revealed a doctor remanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 and then eventually settling for Rs 7,000 when asked for a death certificate. An audio recording of the incident has been forwarded to the BMC commissioner Praveen Pardeshi.
