Considering the growing population of Panvel taluka, the government on Wednesday approved in principle the proposal given by the health department to build a 200-bed general hospital for the people of Panvel. Health Department Upper Secretary Arvind More announced the decision on Wednesday. This will strengthen the future health facilities of Panvelkar. The population of Panvel will reach 25 lakhs in the next few years. The Panvel area has gained more importance due to Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Raigad District Surgeon Dr. Ambadas Devmane had sent a proposal to the Public Health Department for upgrading the 100-bed hospital to a 200-bed hospital. While giving in-principle approval to the same proposal on Wednesday, in the government decision taken by the Under Secretary to the Government, Arvind More, it has been said that the Health Department will take separate action for the construction of the hospital on that site by providing the space required for this hospital through the prescribed process.
The decision has also clearly stated that after the government decision, the Public Works Department should take up the work of preparing the budget and plan for the construction of the respective hospital. Dr. Devmane, surgeon of Raigad district, informed that after the decision of the government on Wednesday, a team of the public works department will inspect the existing building and the premises of the sub-district hospital of Panvel on Thursday.
