In view of the COVID-19 third wave, the Maharashtra government along with Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), are implementing various methods in order to contain the spread of the disease.

According to sources, test centres are being set up at many locations for the safety of the citizens. Moreover, the number of coronavirus cases are expected to increase after Ganeshotsav. Therefore, as the next 15 days are dangerous, the amount of COVID-19 tests being conducted has been increased across the state. In addition, the civic body has appealed to the citizens coming from outside Mumbai to take the RTPCR test.

The BMC has further initiated 266 test centres in the city in order for the citizens to get themselves tested. Meanwhile, currently. there are 4,658 active patients in Mumbai. The average daily rate of patient growth is 0.06 per cent. Every day 400 to 450 infected patients are found in the city. However, the death rate of patients is very low.

On the other hand, the total number of positive patients of the coronavirus on 19 September 2021 in the Greater Mumbai area was 420. An aggregate of 36,048 tests was conducted, additionally, 523 positive patients recovered and were thus discharged. However, 5 deaths occurred due to the virus of which 4 patients had comorbidities, 4 were male and 1 was female. Whilst 4 deaths were above the age of 60, 1 was between 40-60 years of age.
