Mira-Bhayandar reported 31 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 25,078 on Sunday, December 20. According to Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC), 65 people have completely recovered in the last 24 hours. No death has been registered in Mira-Bhayandar. So far, 23,926 have a complete recovery. The death toll stands at 778.
Out of these new cases, one case is from Bhayandar East, one from Bhayandar West and 29 from Mira Road have been reported.
On Sunday, December 20, Maharashtra recorded 3,811 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 18,96,518. Currently, there are 62,743 active cases in the state. With 2,064 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 17,83,905.
With the outbreak of the coronavirus, 98 people have lost their lives a total of 48,746 people in the state have died owing to the contagious disease. While 5,02,362 persons are under home quarantine, 3,730 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 94.06 per cent, and 2.57 per cent respectively. While addressing the state on Sunday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has urged all the citizens to wear a mask. He also said wearing a mask for the next six months is mandatory. Furthermore, he also said no lockdown or night curfew will be imposed in Maharashtra for now but people will have to be cautious.
Meanwhile, India reported 24,337 new cases, 25,709 recoveries and 333 deaths taking the tally up to 1,00,55,560 on Sunday, December 20. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 96,06,111 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,45,810 in the country. At present, there are 3,03,639 active cases. According to the ICMR, 16,20,98329 samples have been tested up to December 20.
