Panvel reported 73 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 27,794 while 39 people have completely recovered in the last 24 hours. In addition to this, one death has been registered in Panvel municipal area on Wednesday, January 6. In total 26,799 have recovered and discharged while the death toll in Panvel is at 610. At present, there are 385 active cases in Panvel Municipal Corporation.
Among the new cases found in Panvel municipal area are 13 from Panvel, 11 from New Panvel, one from Khanda Colony, 11 from Kalamboli, 11 from Kamothe, 25 from Kharghar and one from Taloja. While the recovered patients are two from Panvel, 12 from New Panvel, two from Kalamboli, nine from Kamothe and 13 from Kharghar.
On Wednesday, January 6, Maharashtra recorded 4,382 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 19,54,553. Currently, there are 50,808 active cases in the state. With 2,570 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 18,52,759.
66 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 49,825. While 2,33,875 persons are under home quarantine, 2,523 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 94.79 per cent, and 2.55 per cent respectively.
Meanwhile, India reported 20,346 new cases, 19,587 recoveries and 222 deaths taking the tally up to 1,03,95,278 on Wednesday, January 6. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,00,16,859 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,50,336 in the country. At present, there are 2,28,083 active cases. According to the ICMR, 17,84,00,995 samples have been tested up to January 6.
