The number of coronavirus cases in Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) area is increasing with every passing day, where, as per average records, more 150 new COVID-19 cases are being identified every day. These figures have raised concerns both for the general public and the government.

However, data released by the state health department and the local municipality has also shown that the recovery rate of patients suffering from the infection here is also higher and has increased over time. As of now, 84 per cent of the total patients have been treated successfully and given a discharge.

As of September 10, the total number of corona patients in Mira-Bhayandar district had reached 15,047, and 460 patients died due to the infection. The challenge for the municipality currently is to control the number of patients and also treat them successfully if infected. Following the directives from the state government, MBMC has once again launched the 'Chase the Virus' campaign to find suspected patients and reduce the death rate. As per reports, this campaign will run for the next five days and officials will look for patients with cold, cough and fever. Furthermore, citizens who have or might have come in contact with an infected patient will be subjected to a coronavirus test.

Meanwhile, after a long period of five months, the state government of Maharashtra has allowed some relaxations under the unlock 4.0 guidelines, whereby some services have resumed in the locality. Permission has been granted for the malls to reopen in Mira Bhayandar city, and the traders and small businesses located in the malls have expressed satisfaction.

While the cases MBMC have increased post this decision, officials have issued a strict warning regarding warned to closing the mall again if the management does not follow the social distancing rules and guidelines in a stringent manner.

As of Thursday, September 10, more than 23,000 cases were reported in one day, and the tally Maharashtra has now reached 990795, with 28282 deaths.
