Mumbai is the city of seven islands and is surrounded by sea on three sides. The city also has its share of forestation which is habitation to several wildlife species. However, on various occasions, these animals are seen in the city after they roam out of their natural habitat.

In a similar instance, a snake slithered into a house in Dahisar and was diagnosed with a broken spine. The snake was then rescued and identified as a bamboo pit viper, a venomous snake. The serpent broke its spine after a local who spotted it, instinctively hit it with a bamboo and ended up injuring its backbone.

After rescuing it, the doctors conducted an X-ray on the snake but there were no fruitful results due to which, the veterinarian Dr Deepa Katyal decided to do a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan on the reptile. The serpent was taken to the clinic of radiologist Dr Ravi Thapar, who usually does MRI scans on humans.

The doctor had earlier speculated that the snake had hurt its backbone and her doubts came true after the MRI reports came in.

The snake was pinned down with elastic bands to keep its body stable and was given injectable painkillers. The doctor was adamant to cure the snake and did not want the serpent to be euthanised. Currently, it is being monitored and its condition is gradually improving.
