With the maximum number of coronavirus cases being reported in Maharashtra, Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), in a bid to scale up the testing for COVID-19 has planned to have walk-in testing facilities.

As per reports, the BMC plans to have at least four walk-in COVID-19 testing facilities in each of the 24 administrative wards in Mumbai. Moreover, the ward officials are directed to identify spots where these testing facilities are likely to come up next week.

The authorities also anticipate a surge in the cases of coronavirus in the upcoming months due to festivities and increasing gatherings. As a result, the civic body has been trying to scale up testing to combat the issue at large.

On the other hand, the Maharashtra government had earlier extended the lockdown in the State till November 30. The phase-wise opening of economic activities will continue under the State's ‘Mission Begin Again’ plan in order to contain the spread of the contagious disease. Issuing the circular, the MVA government directed all departments to strictly abide by these guidelines. The activities already allowed by the government will continue in non-containment zones as all previous orders are touted to align with this order. However, the lockdown guidelines will be strictly followed in containment zones.
