On Wednesday, October 27, Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the government would launch a mega vaccination drive against the COVID-19 disease next month. The campaign will be called 'Har Ghar Dastak.'

Under this campaign, healthcare workers will conduct door-to-door vaccinations for people eligible for a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as those who are yet to be administered their first shot.

A special focus will be laid on 48 districts across the country where less than 50 per cent of the eligible population has been inoculated against the COVID-19. Mandaviya further said that 77% of the eligible population in India had been vaccinated against Covid-19 with the first dose, and 32% have been fully inoculated.

This development came after Mandaviya held a meeting with his counterparts and representatives from states and Union Territories. They discussed about scaling up the vaccination drive in the country. He urged everyone to get who is yet to complete their second dose to complete their vaccination process as more than 10 crore people have not yet taken the second dose. The minister has also directed the officials to focus on beneficiaries who are yet to get their shot.

Meanwhile, partially inoculated people are waiting to get their second shot due to the time gap between the first and second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
