Over the last few days, people across India have complained about the difficulty of using CoWin app. In order to receive the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine, one has to register on the portal, however, users have been facing several issue with the app and have mentioned that the same has not been functioning properly.

Understanding the queries, officials have now asked the concerned team to rectify the same, following which changes have now been made.

Reports stated that those who had registered for vaccination on the portal and for some reason could not go for the same were marked as vaccinated. Understanding this error, they complained about the same, and following this, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare suggested changes in the portal.

As per the revised process, if one books an appointment for the vaccine registration, they will be sent a 4 digit OTP to your mobile number. This needs to be shown at the vaccination center, as this will prove that one has made an appointment for the same. Furthermore, this is also expected to avoid confusion in the data related to the vaccination.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare decided to apply these changes as many people started getting messages confirming their vaccination status and and their certificates were also issued, however, they were not vaccinated for personal reasons.

Besides this, changes have also been made on CoWin's dashboard. One will now be able to see  6 new options after entering the pincode or district name for appointment. From these, one can choose the right age group (18+ or 45+), type of vaccine (Covishield or Covaxin), and if free or paid. Post this, one will be able to know know which vaccine is being given

In order to register for vaccination, one should visit CoWin Portal from mobile or computer, and should sign in with the help of the mobile number. An OTP will be sent for confirmation, which needs to be entered and once done, they will be able to register for the vaccine. Applicant needs to add a photo ID proof, name, gender and date of birth, following which they can make an appointment for vaccination
