A successful dry run of Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination was conducted on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Thane-based Rosa Gardenia Health Center. Officials at the hospital located on Ghodbunder Road planned the same on behalf of Thane Municipal Corporation

Mayor Naresh Ganpat Mhaske, Deputy Mayor Pallavi Pawan Kadam, Leader of the House Ashok Vaiti, Municipal Commissioner, local councillors and other staff participated as dummy patients. The decision to implement a dry run was to ensure the staff has understood the pre-preparation procedure for vaccination and all the necessary measures for the same are taken at this place. 

Reports state that during the dry run, a waiting room, registration room, vaccination room, and inspection room has been arranged for the beneficiaries coming for vaccination, who will be assisted by a total of 25 staff members working at Rosa Gardenia Health Center were selected.

Officials have informed that the municipal health department has made all preparations for vaccination, and plans are being made as per the rules drafted by the government. Thane Mayor Naresh Mhaske clarified that the municipal corporation is ready for vaccination, and the dry run of COVID-19 vaccination helped in the same.

The first phase of the vaccination campaign will involve health officials, police department, citizens above 50 years of age and high-risk patients. Furthermore, Commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma stated that as per the instructions received from the Government of Maharashtra in time, this will be implemented by the Municipal Corporation.

Meanwhile, the details of all the beneficiaries to be vaccinated have been updated on the central government's CO-WIN app, which includes health workers, doctors and actual field staff.
