COVID vaccination coverage in India exceeds 168 Cr

With the administration of more than 47 lakh  (47,53,081) vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage, as of February 5, 2021, had exceeded 168.98 Cr. A provisional report regarding the same was released in the morning on February 4, 2022, which mentioned that this was achieved through 1,87,05,424 sessions.

A break-up of the cumulative figure was also shared in the provisional report. Data suggested that over 2.3 lakh patients had recovered in India in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) was reported at over 4.02 crores. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stood at 95.64 per cent.

Meanwhile, over 1.27 lakh new cases were reported in the last 24 hours taking the active caseload to  over 13.32 lakh cases constituting to 3.16 per cent of the country's total positive cases. The testing capacity in India needs to be to be expanded and over 16 lakh tests were conducted taking the tally to over 73.79 Cr tests.

While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, weekly positivity rate was at 11.21 per cent and the daily positivity rate was reported to be 7.98 per cent. 

The government had planned more than 1.46 crore precaution doses for the identified categories of beneficiaries (HCWs, FLWs and Over 60 years) and COVID vaccination have been administered so far. The daily vaccination tally is expected to increase and a report is shared regularly by the government
