The number of corona patients in Mumbai's Ward-S (Bhandup, Nahur, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg and Powai) has seen a rapid increase. Observing this, officials, a few weeks back, imposed a complete lockdown to ensure safety. However, the same has now been extended until July 5, 2020.
Ward-S (Bhandup, Nahur, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg and Powai) has the fourth-highest number of patients in Mumbai and as per reports, more than 100 cases are being reported in this area, every day. Ever since the lockdown, only essential services have been permitted in the area, and the same shall remain, where all the shops have been asked to remain shut, except the ones selling vegetables, fruits, and essential items.
As of June 28, Ward-S (Bhandup, Nahur, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg and Powai) had a total of 4,119 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,663 were active and 2,186 were discharged after recovering. The daily growth rate in Ward-S is 3 per cent, which is higher than that of the average growth rate in Mumbai, which is reported at 1.71 per cent. On June 24, Ward-S had a total of 103 new patients, which increased to121 cases on June 25, followed by 118 cases on June 26, 2020. The doubling rate here is 24 days, which is less than the average in Mumbai, reported at 41 days.
