Andheri West and East, Mulund and Borivali record over 1,000 COVID-19 cases

According to reports, 5,046 new cases were reported from the four wards of K/west (Andheri) and east (Andheri east), T (Mulund) and R/Central (Borivali).

Four wards in Mumbai, namely, Andheri West and East, Borivali and Mulund, have recorded over 1,000 fresh cases of the coronavirus between March 14 and 21.

According to data shared by Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), over 17,000 new cases were reported in this period, of which, 5,046 new cases were reported from the four wards of K/west (Andheri) and east (Andheri east), T (Mulund) and R/Central (Borivali).

Moreover, amidst the rise in instances of COVID-19, the K/west ward recorded 1,643 fresh cases of the coronavirus, followed by K/east at 1,180 cases. K/west also has the highest active cases in the city, at 2,285, with 82 buildings sealed. In addition, a total of 316 buildings and 4,921 floors across the city are sealed. After Mulund (793), K/west has the second-highest sealed floors, at 738. Among the 24 wards in the city, only Ward B (Dongri) recorded less than 100 new cases in the seven days, at 62.

Meanwhile, earlier on Tuesday, March 23, Maharashtra clocked 28,699 people testing positive for the coronavirus propelling the state's COVID-19 tally to 25,33,026. At present, there are 2,30,641 active cases in the state. With 13,165 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 22,47,495.

Furthermore, 1,85,84,463 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in labs operational across the state. While 11,77,265 persons are under home quarantine, 11,887 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 positivity rate, recovery rate and fatality rate in Maharashtra stand at 13.63 per cent, 88.73 per cent and 2.12 per cent respectively.
