To enable health services of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) a special attention is being paid under the guidance of municipal commissioner Rajesh Narvekar and efforts are being made to raise the standard of health care. Public Hospitals Vashi, Nerul and Airoli of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation play an important role in this.

In addition, the modern Neonatal Department at Rajmata Jijau Hospital Airoli has become a boon for newborns. Airoli area has a high proportion of economically weaker population and therefore the number of high risk maternal births is high. Therefore, it was an urgent need to start a neonatal department here.

Accordingly, on September  3, 2019, a 12-bed neonatal unit was started at Rajmata Jijau Hospital, Airoli. In the period of last 3 years and 3 months i.e. from 3rd September 2019 to December 31st, 2022, 1053 deliveries have taken place here and the lowest weight and shortest days of premature baby was 750 grams born at 26 weeks.


Keeping in mind the need for expansion of the Neonatal Department, the number of beds has been increased from 12 to 17 beds and this department has updated equipment including four ventilators, multiparameter, syringe pump, phototherapy machine, biliometer. A special thing is that newborn babies are being treated here with music therapy.

Dr. Medical Superintendent of Rajmata Jijau Hospital, Airoli, believes that this neonatal department will continue to do similar charitable work in the future.
