KDMC to open a 1,100 bed hospital for COVID-19 patients

This comes at a time when the state and the city has been hit hard by the second wave of coronavirus. Moreover, the municipal corporation area has also witnessed an alarming spike in COVID-19 cases since the past few months.

In a relief to the residents of Thane districts, the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) in collaboration with the 1 Rupee Clinic founder Rahul Ghule will start a COVID care hospital with a capacity of 1,100 beds in Kalyan within a week.

This comes at a time when the state and the city have been hit hard by the second wave of coronavirus. Moreover, the municipal corporation area has also witnessed an alarming spike in COVID-19 cases in the past few months.

Earlier, the KDMC had decided to test the citizens seen without masks at public places in order to curb the cases of coronavirus. Police have also warned that people seen without wearing masks should be tested for COVID-19 and positive patients should be sent directly to the quarantine centre. If the rules are violated during the wedding ceremony, the concerned lawn will be sealed till April 30, said KDMC commissioner Vijay Suryavanshi.

Meanwhile, KDMC, on Friday, March 26, 2021, imposed a new set of guidelines whereby shops and offices in the localities have been asked to remain closed over the weekends. Moreover, the vegetable shops in the locality will also function partly whereby only 50 per cent will be allowed to operate. Essential services shall function as normal.

However, on April 5, all three municipal corporations in the Thane district recorded the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases. On the same day, KDMC recorded 1,740 cases.
