650 children have started hearing due to cochlear implant surgery started at KEM hospital. A 'Listen of Life' program was organised at KEM Hospital on the occasion of Ratan Tata's birth anniversary. At that time, the parents and children of these children were guided for their future life.  


Many children born every year in India do not undergo hearing tests and along with this, doctors find it difficult to make few parents convinced of the hearing impaired condition, resulting in the children to go permanently deaf. Therefore, the KEM Hospital has taken the initiative to help such children and educate parents. Tata Trust has provided financial assistance of INR 30 crore since 2017. Therefore, KEM Hospital organised this program on the occasion of Ratan Tata's birth anniversary.

A bank account is opened for all the patients so that the future of cochlear implanted children is not difficult and they do not have to face any difficulties. Dr. Hetal Marfatia, Head of Ear, Nose and Throat Department of KEM Hospital informed that it helps to meet the cost of maintenance of cochlear implant system. 

Tata Trust helps patients who cannot afford cochlear implants, said Chaitanya Kumar of Tata Trust. He also said that after cochlear implant at a young age, it is necessary to pay attention to follow-up care.
