Lockdown 3.0: No relaxations for Mumbai and Pune

On May 1, the MHA issued guidelines regarding extension of lockdown. Under the same, there were also relaxations recommended for the red zone. These included stand alone shops can remain open in this zone and also that 33 per cent of the workforce can now work from their workplaces. 

However, on Saturday state government issued revised guidelines as per which these relaxations will not be applicable to those living in Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Malegaon. These guidelines will be applicable post-May 3.

In Maharashtra, there are 14 districts in the red zone, of which five are in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Pune and Malegaon. There will be no leeway given during Lockdown 3.0 in these five districts but in the rest nice some activities with restrictions have been permitted for now.

As pet the order issued by state chief secretary Ajoy Mehta on Saturday, private offices will not be allowed to operate with 33 per cent strength in the red zones in Maharashtra and nor will the stand alone shops can start operations from now. This means that even liquor shops cannot be open in this area. 

However, there are reports that going forward If the situation improves, 10 per cent workforce may be allowed to work from office. These people will have to travel to work in their own vehicles as state transport will continue to be shut.
