On Wednesday, January 13, Maharashtra recorded 3,556 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 19,78,044. Currently, there are 52,365 active cases in the state. With 3,009 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 18,74,279.

More than 70 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 50,221. While 2,26,599 persons are under home quarantine, 2,496 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 94.75 per cent, and 2.54 per cent respectively.

Mumbai reported 675 new COVID-19 cases, 531 recoveries and eight deaths on Wednesday, January 13, taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,00,471. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 7,525 active cases and 2,80,853 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,210 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 93 per cent. At present 25,33,640 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 141 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 2,325 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

Meanwhile, India reported 16,946 new cases, 17,652 recoveries and 198 deaths taking the tally up to 1,05,12,093 on Wednesday, January 13. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,01,46,763 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,51,727 in the country. At present, there are 2,13,603 active cases. According to the ICMR, 18,42,32,305 samples have been tested up to January 13.
