Mumbai reported 855 new COVID-19 cases, 876 recoveries and four deaths on Monday, March 1, taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,26,770. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 9,690 active cases and 3,04,736 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,474 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 93 per cent. At present 32,91,721 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 10 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 137 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

On Monday, March 1, Maharashtra recorded 6,397 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This comes as a major relief as the state has been posting over 8,000 cases for the last couple of days. Maharashtra's total case tally now stands to 21,61,467. Currently, there are 77,618 active cases in the state. With 5,754 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 20,30,458.

More than 30 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 52,184. While 3,43,947 persons are under home quarantine, 3,482 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 93.94 per cent, and 2.41 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 12,286 new cases, 12,464 recoveries and 91 deaths taking the tally up to 1,11,24,527 on Monday, March 1. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,07,98,921 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,57,248 in the country. At present, there are 1,68,358 active cases. So far, 1,48,54,136 healthcare and frontline workers have been vaccinated in the country.
