On Thursday, September 9, Mumbai clocked 458 coronavirus cases and six deaths. Moreover, the caseload across the city rose to 7,48,066 and the death toll reached 16,010.

According to reports, the number of active COVID-19 cases increased to 4,010 on Thursday. Meanwhile, on Friday, September 10, the vaccination drive will remain suspended at 329 civic and government-run centres to meet administrative and technical requirements to hold special immunisation campaigns.

Meanwhile, the civic body stated that there is adequate vaccine stock and the drive will resume on Saturday. On the other hand, on Friday, Ganeshotsav celebrations have begun across the state as crowds are being observed amidst the pandemic.

In the past few weeks, the active COVID-19 cases in Dadar, Byculla, and Bandra have more than doubled leading to a sharp spike in the coronavirus cases. While Wadala, Sion, Parel, Lalbaug, Dahisar, Andheri, and Mulund saw a 50% rise in COVID-19. As reported by Mid-Day, G- ward that comprises Dadar, Mahim, and Dharavi have seen the highest spike in active COVID-19 cases. It has gone from 82 to 236. Dharavi however has only 13 active cases but Mahim has 131 active cases and Dadar 92.

Assistant commissioner of G-North ward Kiran Dighavkar said to the media, “This is the result of aggressive testing at crowded places and buildings where more cases are detected. But there is minimal hospitalization and even the death rate is very low.”
