Mumbai reported 599 new COVID-19 cases, 612 recoveries and four deaths on Friday, February 12, taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,12,902. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 5,296 active cases and 2,95,344 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,407 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 94 per cent. At present 29,82,882 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 140 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 1,638 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

On Friday, February 12, Maharashtra recorded 3,670 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,56,575. Currently, there are 31,475 active cases in the state. With 2,422 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,72,475.

More than 36 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 51,451. While 1,68,087 persons are under home quarantine, 1,789 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.91 per cent, and 2.51 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 12,143 new cases, 11,395 recoveries and 103 deaths taking the tally up to 1,08,92,746 on Friday, February 12. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,06,00,625 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,55,550 in the country. At present, there are 1,36,571 active cases. So far, 79,67,647 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country.
