After inaugurating the state-of-the-art surgery theatre and hemodialysis centre at St. George's Hospital, now three departments namely reconstructive surgery, urology and ophthalmology will be opened in the next two weeks. This will enable patients visiting St. George's Hospital to receive better healthcare services in the future.


During the Corona period, St. George's Hospital was completely converted into a dedicated hospital for Corona. Due to this, many departments of the hospital were closed. But after the corona virus came under control, all the departments of the hospital are slowly being restarted. As a part of it, the construction of a modern surgical theatre was undertaken at St. George's Hospital. Also, a 12-bed blood purification centre was started to provide blood purification facilities to the patients coming to the hospital free of charge or at a moderate cost. This is the first blood purification centre in the state to be opened in such a state-of-the-art and outpatient setting in a government hospital

After the blood purification centre and operating room, now three departments of reconstructive surgery, urology and ophthalmology will be started in St. George's Hospital. The Department of Reconstructive Surgery will be started next week. St. George's Hospital Department of Reconstructive Surgery Dr. Rajat Kapoor underwent a difficult surgery to transform a woman into a man a few years ago. Therefore, the Department of Reconstructive Surgery of St. George's Hospital gained special importance. Similarly, the urology department will start in the next two weeks. Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan and Department Secretary Ashwini Joshi assured that the necessary expert doctors, professors and resident doctors will be available soon to start the Ophthalmology Department.

Department of Gynecology and Pediatrics will be fully operational

St. George's Hospital had only an outpatient department of Gynecology and Paediatrics. But now after the opening of the updated surgery room, the inpatient department of this department will also be started. Regarding immediate provision of necessary professors, assistant professors and resident doctors, J.J. Hospital founder Dr. Pallavi Saple has accepted the request. Doctors will be made available for this department soon.
