In a welcoming news for Mumbaikars, zero COVID-19 deaths have been reported for second consecutive day in the city, shows a data released by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on February 16.

Mumbai did not record any new deaths linked to COVID-19 for the first time in 2022 on Tuesday, February 15 since January.

Earlier, on January 2, the island city had reported zero fatalities. Moreover, with this, no COVID-19 death were recorded for the third time in the ongoing third wave of coronavirus.

As per data, out of the 30,371 tests conducted, 255 were detected with COVID-19 on Wednesday, February 16.

Of the total, 232 patients were asymptomatic. Only 23 patients require hospitalisation. Therefore, 97 per cent of the beds were vacant in Mumbai.

Apart from this, there are no sealed buildings and containment zones in the city.

The recovery rate of coronavirus patients in Mumbai has gone up to 98 per cent. So the doubling rate of the same patients has become 2205 days.

At present, the total number of such patients in Mumbai has gone up to 1,054,732. So far 16,685 people have lost their lives due to the virus in Mumbai. So far 10,33,071 patients have recovered from the novel virus.

In Mumbai, 439 people have been cured from the infection in the last 24 hours. At present, there are 2,115 active patients in the city.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra recorded 2,748 new cases with 41 deaths. Presently, only 1,169 patients are in institutional quarantine in the state.
