Coronavirus cases in Mumbai are increasing significantly and several patients around the city have complained about inadequate facilities at the government-run COVID centres. Recent reports received from Mulund's Jumbo COVID Centre reveal that the patients admitted at the facility for the treatment have complained about 'having a tough time' at the centre.

It is said that the patients are suffering from extreme heat during the day time and cold at the night, and with an aim to find the solution, they have called upon their relatives to assist with portable fans and blankets. A report regarding the matter was published on Mid-Day, which said that the authorities from the centre have claimed that the issue was related to the height of the facility and not related to the air conditioning.

This jumbo facility was developed at the Richardson and Crudas premises on Mulund's LBS Marg over 1,200 patients are being treated currently. Relatives offering to help their loved ones have complained that they had to wait for several hours to hand over the fans and blankets.

Addressing the issue, the dean of the centre, told Mid-Day that the heat was being experienced due to the weather. Officials have informed the concerned department regarding the same, and the solution is being sought.

Currently, Mulund has over 3700 active cases, and has so far registered 28,524 COVID-19 cases. A total of 24,331 patients have recovered from the infection and more than 400 have died. The locality has an average COVID-19 growth rate of 1.19 per cent, which is below the city average of 1.53 per cent. The doubling rate in Mulund is 59 days, more than the city average of 45 days.

The locality has only two containment areas and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed 13 buildings so far. However, Mulund has the most number of sealed floors in Mumbai, whereby, as of April 17, 2021, the BMC has sealed 2199 floors, each with less than five COVID-19 cases.
