688 new COVID-19 cases were found in Pune taking the caseload up to 2,03,796 while 498 people have completely recovered and discharged from the hospital.

Pune reported 688 new COVID-19 cases, 498 recoveries and five deaths on Tuesday, March 2, taking the total number of cases up to 2,03,796. According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there are 5,091 active cases while 1,93,841 patients have recovered so far. The death toll in Pune is 4,864.

 As many as 6,124 tests were conducted taking the total count to 11,54,785.

On Tuesday, March 2, Maharashtra recorded 7,863 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 21,69,330. Currently, there are 79,093 active cases in the state. With 6,332 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 20,36,790.

More than 54 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 52,238. While 3,55,784 persons are under home quarantine, 3,558 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 93.89 per cent, and 2.41 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 14,989 new cases, 13,123 recoveries and 98 deaths taking the tally up to 1,11,39,516 on Tuesday, March 2. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,08,12,044 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,57,346 in the country. At present, there are 1,70,126 active cases. So far, 1,56,20,749 healthcare and frontline workers have been vaccinated in the country.
