On Wednesday, Rajesh Tope, Maharashtra Health Minister elucidated that a three-member central team is in Pune where a woman recently tested positive for the zika virus, thus, he has asked people to not fear, states a report by the PTI.

He also mentioned that measures are being undertaken to see to it that the mosquito-borne disease doesn’t spread further.

The woman who tested positive is the first case in Maharashtra, has recovered, stated the state health department last week. The expert team sent by the Union Health Ministry is coming to Pune to review the circumstances after the case was identified in Purandar taluka's village.

He has asked the citizens not to fear since the mosquito breeding areas are being ravaged and symptomatic patients are being watched. To ensure that the disease doesn’t spread further, steps are being undertaken.

The team being dispatched includes a public health expert from the office of Regional Director, Pune, alongside a gynaecologist from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi and an entomologist from the National Institute of Malaria Research, New Delhi.

Additionally, on Saturday a medical team from the state government went to the village and instructed the panchayat members about cautionary measures.
