Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced an ambitious plan to inoculate 1.3 million of its associates, partners, employees, and their families with the coronavirus vaccine at zero cost. This will be the largest corporate vaccine drive in India and will be carried out across 880 cities.

The beneficiaries will also include employees of associates and partner corporations as well as retired employees and their family members, a statement put out by RIL said adding that it aims to “substantially reduce the pressure on public health systems and help India counter the pandemic challenges more effectively.”

The definition of family in this context includes parents, children, spouse, grandparents, siblings, and parents in law. The corporation specified that employees will also include in-store workers of over 13,000 Reliance Retail and Jio outlets across India.

It’s worth noting that more than 3.3 lakh RIL employees and their families have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. With this new vaccination drive, RIL expects to vaccinate all eligible people with at least one dose of the vaccine by the 15th of June.

To initiate the process, eligible employees and their families need to register for a slot on the Central Government’s CoWIN online portal. After the registration, a slot can be assigned for the nearest vaccination centre through the Jio Healthclub platform.

Moreover, employees and partners that have already received their COVID-19 vaccine will be fully reimbursed for the expenses, RIL said. The corporation has purchased both Covishield and Covaxin doses for this large-scale vaccination programme.
