Patients have been complaining about the breakdown of CT scan machines in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) well-known hospitals such as KEM, Sion and Nair. As a result of which, patients are forced to use CT scan at private centres where the cost of CT scan treatment is two times higher than civic hospitals.

Soon, the suffering of the patients will not last long as new CT scan systems will be installed in KEM, Sion, and Nair Hospitals.

Every day at least five to six thousand patients seek treatment at KEM, Sion and Nair hospitals of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. But, whenever the doctor advises these patients to undergo a CT scan, the CT scan system in the hospital is either closed or there is a waiting list of four to five months.

Citizens are then forced to go to private centres to get their treatment done. The cost of this test is worth Rs 1,000 to 1,200 in the municipal hospital while the same test costs Rs. 4k at private CT scan centres.

The process of getting the CT scan machine is in the final stage and soon all these three hospitals will get the new machines, which will help patients by doing the test on time and at a discounted rate.
