On Sunday evening, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in KDMC was recorded at 195, while in Thane City it was 389 and 171 in Mira Bhayander. As of late Sunday night, the total number of positive cases recorded in Thane district was 1,183.
The largest slum in the city Dharavi also witnessed a sharp jump in the confirmed cases with as many as 95 new cases being recorded in a time span of 24 hours. Not just this two people from Dharavi lost their lives on Sunday. With this, the total in the Dharavi area has come very close to 600-mark and currently stands at 590. So far 20 people from this slum area have succumbed to the disease.
Coming back to the MMR region the number of cases in Thane and Navi Mumbai municipal corporation limits have crossed 300 each while in Kalyan Dombivali area, it is currently hovering around 200-mark.
In Navi Mumbai, there were 314 new cases that have been recorded. There has been a big concern regarding the operations of the APMC market in Vashi that falls in this area. Hence to address the concern a swab test was conducted in the area and over 4,000 people have been tested. For those unaware, APMC market in Vashi, is the premier supplier of grains, vegetables, fruits, and spices to Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
