Mumbai's civic body, the Birhanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is responsible for the infrastructure and administration of the city and some of its suburbs. Amid the upcoming BMC elections, here are some beautification projects undertaken by the civic body. 

1. Mahim Beach Houses

The Newly Revamped beach houses 1,000 trees, beautiful sculptures, an eco-friendly wooden gym, mesmerizing artwork, and a watchtower that offers breathtaking views of the Bandra Worli sea link.

2. Traffic Island In Tardeo 

It is a brand new park with a small walking track and seating facilities inside a traffic island in the middle of a busy junction in Tardeo. It was inaugurated by Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackrey on February 9, 2022

3. Senapati Bapat Marg 

Under its ‘Green Mile’ project, the BMC has beautified the 1km stretch in Lower Parel with pedestrian-friendly intersections, street furniture, vertical gardens, and using the space under the flyover for sporting activities.

4. Chaitya Bhoomi 

The viewing deck extends over Dadar’s Chowpatty beach overlooking the breathtaking view of the Arabian sea and Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Aaditya Thackeray, Mumbai suburban guardian minister, has also proposed that the viewing deck be named after Dr Ambedkar’s wife Ramabai Ambedkar.

5. Skatepark Bandra

The skatepark at Carter Road has quickly become a meeting place not only for enthusiasts but also a place where people of different backgrounds interact.

Moreover, through the tactical urbanism program, that body is looking to augment the open space in the city.
