The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced through Twitter on Monday that the Mumbai Porbandar Project (Sewri-Nhava Sheva Sea Bridge) undertaken by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will be inaugurated on December 25, so that the Mumbai-Navi Mumbai distance can be covered in 20 to 22 minutes. But the work of this sea bridge will be completed by the end of December. Therefore, MMRDA has claimed that there is no possibility of the Sagari Setu entering traffic service in December. This has created confusion regarding the launch of this project.

The MMRDA is constructing the 21.80 km long Sewri – Nhava Sheva Sea Bridge to connect Navi Mumbai and Mumbai and to bridge the distance between the two cities in 20 to 22 minutes. The work of this project was started in 2018. The work was expected to be completed in September 2022. But due to Corona and other problems, the project could not be completed during this period. Now, however, the work has been speeded up in order to complete this sea bridge and put it into traffic service by December 2023.

So far, more than 96 percent of the work of this sea bridge has been completed and the work of the project is in the final stage. As per MMRDA's schedule, many people are wondering if this sea bridge will be put into traffic service from December. Meanwhile, BJP has announced the date of inauguration of Mumbai Porbandar project. Maharashtra BJP has announced on Twitter that another dream of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be fulfilled and the Mumbai Porbandar project will be inaugurated on December 25 through an audio tape.

After the BJP's announcement, MMRDA officials are refusing to comment in this regard. Meanwhile, the work of this project is in the final stage and the entire work of the project will be completed by the end of December, sources said. Sources expressed the possibility that the project will enter the actual transport service in January.
