On Sunday, January 3, BJP MP Hema Malini inaugurated a senior citizen centre in Andheri (West), Mumbai. Local BJP MLA Ameet Satam from Andheri (West) was also present at this venue.

According to reports, over 150 senior citizens had turned up for the inauguration. A local NGO Juhu Soul of Mumbai City will be maintaining the centre. Various activities will be conducted at the centre such as gardening, yoga, counselling for senior citizens, celebrating grandparents’ day etc.

A local corporator Renu Hansraj said that this centre was constructed through his corporator funds. This place was encroached by drug peddlers and was a haven for flesh trade. With the help of BMC and police officials, they got it cleared after facing much resistance. He also said that this was a proud movement for himself and party that it could retrieve this encroached place and turn it around 360 degrees for senior citizens.

Hansraj also shared that the actor-turned-politician Hema Malini expressed her desire to use this space as well. She was so pleased with this space designated for the senior citizens.

Ever since Hema Malini joined BJP, she has been at the forefront of the party. She had recently pitched in for the three new agri-marketing laws, saying the Narendra Modi government has now given farmers more options to sell their crops. She had also appealed to farmers and their unions to give up their protest over the new farm laws and sit across the table with the government to remove their apprehensions.
