The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has deployed additional manpower to tackle the pothole related issues across the city with nearing of arrival of monsoon.

A total of 227 sub-engineers have been appointed at the municipal ward level for carrying out pothole filling works, said civic officials. Moreover, from this year onwards, the BMC has decided to increase the strength of engineers in each ward to ensure the issue of potholes are addressed immediately. Till last year, the BMC would deploy 24 engineers in each of these wards.

The BMC made this announcement issuing a circular on June 15. The notice stated that a list of these engineers have been deployed at the ward level and responsibility of supervising the ongoing works lies with the assistant municipal commissioner of that particular ward in mumbai.

To have effective control over pothole works, it is necessary that the potholes work shall be supervised by ward assistant municipal commissioner. All assistant municipal commissioners of the wards shall supervise the potholes work being attended by 227 nominated sub engineers, the circular added.

BMC’s road department exclaimed that they will also address pothole related complaints that will be recorded in our digital platforms like pothole fixit app and online chatbot.
