Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar directed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to improve its dashboard for road concretisation projects on Wednesday, September 24. He said the system must be more transparent and useful for citizens.
Shelar ordered that trenches dug along roads must be restored within 15 days. He warned that contractors who damage utilities will face penalties. He added that citizens should be able to file complaints about local roads directly on the dashboard. The system must also display details of damaged utilities such as power lines, water pipes, and sewage lines, and contractors must be held responsible.
Shelar instructed that all grievances registered on the dashboard should be addressed and reports must be shared with citizens. He directed that water, electricity, and sewer projects must be mapped before road work is approved to make sure of proper coordination.

The civic body launched the “Cement Concretisation Roads in Mumbai” dashboard on September 4. It gives the public access to information such as road lists, maps, photos of completed projects, and contact details of contractors and officials. It also carries future development plans.
The BMC has stated that Mumbai has 2,121 roads under concretisation. Out of these, 771 are completed, 574 are half finished, and 776 are yet to begin. In terms of distance, 342 kilometres of the total 798 kilometres under phases 1 and 2 are complete.
The minister also said that pending work in the H-West ward must be finished first. Two contractors are working in this ward, and priority will be given to the one that completes projects on time and with good quality.

In the H-West ward, which includes Bandra West, Khar West, and Santacruz, there are 157 roads. Among these, 54 are complete, 47 are partly complete, and 60 are still pending. Out of the total 53 kilometres in this ward, 44.47 kilometres have been completed.
