In order to handle the increasing patient volume, two of Mumbai's most renowned hospitals, Breach Candy and Jaslok, are preparing for a significant transformation.

Breach Candy Hospital is set to inaugurate a new 11-storey building on its premises next year. The hospital started diversifying in 2019. Now, it will add 84 beds to the new building. This will increase its capacity to provide cutting-edge treatment facilities.

The hospital has been facing a lot of competition from Masina Hospital, Saifee Hospital, and Sir H. N. Reliance Hospital. The new building is part of the hospital's phase I modernization plan. It is expected to start operations in the upcoming calendar quarter, pending approval from the civic body.

The COVID-19 pandemic showed the need for isolation wards. Currently, there are no isolation wards in the building. The new building will address this issue. It will cost around 300 crores and span 100,000 square feet. It will house patient wards, an endoscopy facility, an operating theatre, an ICU, a nephrology centre, a chemotherapy ward, and an OPD. The interior design was completed by Narsi Group. They also designed the interior of the new Parliament House.

Jaslok Hospital is another prominent healthcare institution in Mumbai. It is also undergoing a significant renovation to cater to the rising healthcare demand. The renovation process started in 2016. It is now expected to be completed in five to six years.

Last year, the hospital opened a seven-story annexe. This added a nuclear medicine section and 85 more beds. The hospital plans to start construction on a five-story annexe next year. This will house a cafeteria, operating rooms, physician training facilities, and outpatient departments.
