In a bid to benefit women, Mumbai Division of Central Railway has installed 50 Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines at Ladies Toilets/ Waiting Halls at stations.

This is a first such machine installed at CSMT. Napkins can be obtained with a ₹5 coin, said CR officials.

Earlier, few years ago, the Western Railway (WR) has installed sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators for its women employees in six divisions, including its headquarters at Churchgate.

Apart from Churchgate, these coin-operated machines were installed at other five divisions - Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Ratlam, Rajkot and Bhavnagar- and were inaugurated by senior-most or youngest women employee working there, he added.

Moreover, the nine prisons across Maharashtra have set up sanitary napkin dispensal and disposal machines on its premises to provide better facilities to women during menstruation.

Even schools under Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) had decided to install sanitary napkin vending machines in 48 civic schools.
