Builders cheat MHADA of 14 Thousand Crore Rupees

The tax payers have to pay an additional SFI for the redevelopment of the old buildings coming under the section of DCR 33(7). But it is since 1992-93, that MHADA did not receive any benefits that it was supposed to reap in from the redevelopment of these buildings. Hence, Kamlakar Shenoy, the RTI activist has filed a petition in this regard with the Bombay High Court.

MHADA, on the other hand, was supposed to get acquire a space of 30 lakh sq. feet after the redevelopment work done for the old buildings the market value of which comes around 14 thousand crore rupees. But this amount has not been paid back by the builders to the corporation. This area could have been put to good use for building 22 lakh homes.

Moreover, it has been appealed in the court that a case should be filed against all the builders involved. Further, as per Ravindra Waikar, MOS Housing whereas a case has been filed against 26 such builders, an additional SFI is yet to paid by the builders to MHADA and the required action would be taken on the concerned builders, post investigation.
