The Girder of Patripool Rail Over Bridge (RoB) in Kalyan was launched recently in the presence of Ministers Eknath Shinde and Aaditya Thackeray. Following this, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), on Friday, November 27, 2020, has permitted the work on the Thakurli Parallel Road to begin.

The project was on hold for more than four years and with the permission, the team would soon begin the same on the 100m stretch of the 1.5 km road. The reason for the delay is said to be a land dispute which, as per reports, has been resolved. Updates received by the KDMC state that the work would be completed within a month's time.

Officials are planning to priorities this project as the pending work is causing inconvenience to the commuters by adding more time to their travel schedule and eventually leading to congestion on the Patripool bridge due to diversions. This stretch is said to connect the Patripool bridge and would be open for the public soon.

The launch of the Kalyan's Patripool ROB was also delayed. As per reports, the girder was expected to be launched in February 2020, after the bridge was dismantled in November 2018. MSRDC has resumed the work post the coronavirus pandemic and expects to complete it by January 2021. Once operational, both the bridge and the road would ease travel for the localities by connecting the cities of Kalyan, Thakurli and Dombivli.
