Since the last six months, the lottery for the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA)’s Mumbai Board has not been declared. However, the housing scheme has finally received an announcement date as the lottery for the 1,384 houses will be declared on December 16. Accordingly, the housing board has issued an advertisement for the scheme on November 3.

As per the advertisement, the procedure for the registration for the lottery, distribution of application along with the collection of applications, will begin November 5 onwards. In conversation with the media, MHADA Chairman Uday Samant stated that the lottery will be declared on December 16.

More importantly, the rates of the houses have been lowered this year as per the new regulations and so, the people will be able to buy the houses at cheaper prices in a megacity like Mumbai.

The housing scheme consists of a lottery of 63 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) houses, 926 Low Income Group (LIG) houses, 201 Middle Income Group (MIG) houses, and 194 High Income Group (HIG) houses. This year, one LIG house at Grant Road has been priced as high as ₹5 crore.

The detailed information for the lottery and its declaration has been given at MHADA’s website  www.lottery.mhada.gov.in.
