Public Works dept holds a meeting to prevent increasing accidents on Sion-Panvel Highway

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Public Works under the chairmanship of Dattatraya Bharane. The minister of State Dattatraya Bharane also directed to complete the work immediately by giving technical approval in this regard.

The Minister of State for Public Works Dattatraya Bharane on Tuesday, February 16, testified that necessary measures will be taken to repair the speed breakers, underground footpaths and maintenance of street lights at Khadi pool to prevent accidents on the Sion-Panvel highway.

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Public Works under the chairmanship of Dattatraya Bharane. Besides, Chief Engineer of Public Works Department (PWD), Mumbai Division, K. T. Patil, Superintendent Engineer Sandeep Patil, Chief Engineer of Electricity Department, Baliram Netke from Kharghar were present in the meeting.

There is a need to undertake concretisation work to prevent accidents due to road congestion at Jui creek bridge and Taloja creek bridge on Sion-Panvel highway, said Bharane. The minister of State Dattatraya Bharane also directed to complete the work immediately by giving technical approval in this regard.

The minister discussed the issues and assured that efforts would be made to solve all the problems -- improper management of potholes on the Sion-Panvel Highway, pedestrian bridges for senior citizens and lack of traffic lights. All of these increase the risk of accidents.
