The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project’s Mumbai terminus is anticipated to get delayed. Since the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) which is constructing the corridor, hasn’t received the possession of the land from the state government at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), highlighted reports.

According to accounts, the NHSRCL had sought to commence the building of the station by 2022 end. The planned station will have a three-storey underground structure at BKC. Based on the NHSRCL design, the said station will have six platforms. This will be on the lowest floor of the three-floor station.

Based on a report by the Hindustan Times, a senior official from the NHSRCL elaborated on how a structure of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) hasn’t shifted to an alternate land offered by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

This was to enable the proposed construction of the station. The official added that the formalities of giving the land and signing the lease agreement for alternate sites are still left. Whilst the MMRDA had permitted the alternate land at the G block of the BKC. But, the relocation work for the same hasn’t begun yet.

It is believed that the approximate cost of the bullet train is INR 1,10,000 crore. Moreover, the tender for the railway station was floated in 2019, wherein seven Indian companies depicted interest.
