11 tenders have been submitted for the repair of 2,417 houses in 11 buildings of mill workers at Kon in Panvel and work orders will be given to the contractors immediately after the tender process. After that, the repair works of the houses will be taken up immediately and these works will be completed within six months. As a result, the eligible winning mill workers will be able to get their homes in the coming months.

Lottery was held in 2016 for 2,417 houses in Kon in Panvel under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) leased housing project. After the draw, the Mumbai Board started determining the eligibility of the winning mill workers and also paid the housing amount from more than 800 workers. But these eligible winners could not get possession of the houses. Due to the dispute over the repair of these houses, the possession was stopped. After settling this dispute, the board called for tenders for the repair of 11 buildings.

However, only three out of 11 building repair tenders received response. As a result, the repairs were again delayed. Therefore, the board again called for tenders for the repair of eight buildings. Finally, the response for the repair work of these eight buildings has been received and now the process of finalising the tender process is underway. A senior officer of the Mumbai board informed that work orders will be given to the contractors in the next 10 to 12 days. The repair work will be started immediately after giving the task order. This work will be completed in six months, said the official.
